How to Set Up Email Forwarding

Email forwarding lets you receive emails sent to your domain at another email address, like your personal Gmail or business inbox.

Types of Forwarding

Account Forwarder

Forwards emails from a specific email account to another address.

Domain Forwarder

Forwards all emails sent to any address @yourdomain.com to a single destination.

Set Up Account Forwarding

  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Go to EmailForwarders
  3. Click Add Forwarder
  4. Enter the email address to forward (e.g., info)
  5. Select your domain
  6. Enter the destination email address
  7. Click Add Forwarder

Set Up Domain Forwarding

  1. In cPanel, go to EmailForwarders
  2. Click Add Domain Forwarder
  3. Select the domain
  4. Enter the destination email address
  5. Click Add Domain Forwarder

This catches all emails sent to any address at your domain.

Keep a Copy

To keep a copy in your BearHost mailbox while forwarding:

  1. Create the email account first
  2. Set up the forwarder
  3. The email will be delivered to both locations

Common Use Cases

  • Consolidate inboxes — Forward multiple addresses to one inbox
  • Team distribution — Forward support@ to multiple team members
  • Backup — Forward to a secondary email for backup
  • Migration — Forward during transition to new email provider

Important Notes

  • Forwarding doesn't require the email account to exist
  • Large attachments may have delivery issues
  • Some spam filters may flag forwarded emails
  • Consider SPF records if forwarding causes delivery issues
