Trust & identity

Is BearHost legit?

Yes — and if a search engine told you otherwise, it was talking about a different company that happens to share our name. This page explains who we are, where our servers are, how we handle abuse, and how you can check every claim yourself.

The short version

  • bearhost.com is operated by Bearhosting LLC, a company registered in Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA. The address, phone number and support email are in the footer of every page.
  • Our servers are in Amsterdam and Paris. You pick the location at checkout. We do not operate in Russia.
  • We are not “BEARHOST” the bulletproof-hosting network. That is a Russian operation (Prospero OOO, Proton66 and related companies) written about by Krebs on Security and others. We have no connection to it — see below.
  • We act on abuse reports. Phishing, malware and spam get suspended. Anyone can report abuse through our public form, no account needed.
  • You can try us risk-free. Every plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee, and independent reviews are on Trustpilot.

The name mix-up, explained

In security circles, BEARHOST (also called “Underground” or “Voodoo Servers”) is the nickname of a long-running Russian bulletproof-hosting network. It rents infrastructure to criminals, ignores takedown requests and blocklists, and cycles through front companies such as Prospero OOO and Stimul LLC to evade sanctions. Krebs on Security, Resecurity and other researchers have documented it in detail.

None of that describes us. BearHost the hosting brand is Bearhosting LLC, a small US company selling ordinary web hosting and VPS plans to the public, with a published address, a public abuse desk, regulated payment processors and a money-back guarantee. The only thing we share with that network is a word.

Because the names look alike, AI-generated search summaries sometimes merge the two and answer “you cannot trust Bearhost” while linking to bearhost.com. If you saw that, this page is the correction — and we have asked the search engines to fix the attribution.

How to verify us yourself

  1. Reviews: read what customers say on Trustpilot. Reviews there are collected by Trustpilot, not by us.
  2. Company registration: Bearhosting LLC, 1908 Thomes Ave STE 64828, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA — look it up in the Wyoming Secretary of State business search.
  3. Payments: we charge through Stripe and Cryptomus, both of which vet merchants and let you dispute a charge. We never ask for bank transfers or gift cards.
  4. Uptime and status: live and historical uptime is public at status.bearhost.com, backed by a 99.9% SLA with service credits.
  5. Abuse policy: our Report Abuse page is public and monitored. A bulletproof host would not have one.
  6. Talk to a human: live chat on the site, support@bearhost.com, or +1 (831) 603-9350.

What we will and won’t host

We host websites, WordPress, business applications, trading platforms, game servers, development environments and the like, on Linux or Windows. Our Terms of Service prohibit phishing, malware distribution, spam, botnet command-and-control, carding and similar activity, and we enforce them. If you are looking for a provider that ignores abuse complaints, we are not it.

Frequently asked questions

Is BearHost a legitimate hosting company?

Yes. BearHost is the trading name of Bearhosting LLC, a US-registered company (Cheyenne, Wyoming) that sells shared cPanel hosting, WordPress hosting and KVM VPS servers to the public. Servers are located in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Paris (France). Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and customer reviews are published on Trustpilot.

Why does Google say "you cannot trust Bearhost"?

Because of a name collision. Security researchers (including Krebs on Security) use the name "BEARHOST" for a Russian bulletproof-hosting network that operates through companies such as Prospero OOO and Proton66 and is known for ignoring abuse complaints. That network has nothing to do with bearhost.com or Bearhosting LLC. AI-generated search summaries have merged the two because the names look alike.

Is BearHost a "bulletproof" or abuse-friendly host?

No. We act on every abuse report we receive — phishing, malware, spam, botnet traffic — and we suspend services that are confirmed to be abusive. Our abuse team can be reached through the public Report Abuse form or at abuse@bearhost.com, and reports do not require an account. We do not accept customers who ask us to ignore abuse complaints.

How can I verify BearHost before paying?

Read the independent reviews on Trustpilot, check our public status page, look up Bearhosting LLC in the Wyoming business registry, and note that payments go through Stripe and Cryptomus — regulated processors that vet merchants. If you are still unsure, order with a card and use the 30-day money-back guarantee; you lose nothing by trying.

Where are BearHost servers located?

Netherlands (Amsterdam) and France (Paris), on hardware we operate ourselves. We publish both locations on the VPS pages and let you choose at checkout. We do not operate servers in Russia.

Still unsure? Try us for 30 days.

If it isn’t what you expected, you get your money back.
